My favorite way to make work is just to paint and see what happens. An idea will slowly form, and I’ll try to make that Idea solid by repeating it a few times. I figure if I can repeat it and create variations, then I understand the idea enough. Also, the repetition makes the idea feel alive. The multiples make it more real, not just a one-off spark, but a piece of work that has companions that can go out into the world together.

That’s where the idea of this site came from.

At first, it felt very rigid. I would come up with something and create as many variations as possible. Those were my learning days; my desire to explore within tight constraints was high. It’s honestly how I still work sometimes, excavating the depths, slowly refining within my imaginary boundaries.

But I’ve been working differently over the past year or so. Instead of weeks, I spend days or maybe just an inspired session to create these paper pieces. Sometimes the paint just hits right. A balance of texture, color, and transparency that I’ve been drifting towards lately that aligns with forms that I enjoy painting: flowers, fruit, and compositions of lines and curves.

That’s where this collection of paintings comes from, not over-analyzed and dissected, but made in the calm breaks over the last sixteen months. Each painting is a record of drifting lines of notes that converge from everyday dissonance into moments of harmony.
