Where do I Start?

So, where do I start?

First, I need supplies.

I found an art store. It’s kind of close to Nara Park.

We went early, said hi to the deer and viewed a few ancient wonders.

After udon at the shrine, we made it to the art store.

I only bought a few things. Some small tubes of paint, Sumi ink, gesso, and drawing paper.

The next morning, I sat and stared at the supplies a bit, thinking about what to do.

But you have to start somewhere.

So I picked up a pencil and started to draw.

まず、画材が必要です。

画材屋を見つけました。

奈良公園から わりと近いので、 早めに出かけて、 鹿に挨拶をして、 古の 驚きを目にしました。

お寺でうどんを食べてから、 ようやく 画材屋へ。

買ったのは 少しだけ。

小さな絵の具のチューブと、 ジェッソ、墨、 そしてデッサン用紙。

翌朝、 座って 画材をしばらく 眺めていました。

どこから始めようか 考えながら。

でも、どこかから 始めなければ。

だから鉛筆を 手に取って、 描き始めました。

Day 0 - July 2nd - 2026

Japan

So, I moved to Japan.

I’ve been here for about a month.

Before that, there was planning, packing, and selling off everything we owned.

So I haven’t painted in months.

And the art supplies I kept are on a boat floating across the Pacific.

It’s finally time to start painting again.

But where do I start?

日本に 引っ越しました。

来てから 約一ヶ月。

その前は 計画を立て、 荷造りをして、 持ち物をすべて手放しました。

だから ここ何ヶ月も 腰を据えて 絵を描いていませんでした。

取っておいた画材は すべて 船に乗って、太平洋を 渡っている最中です。

また 絵を描く 時が来ました。
